Graduate Diploma Programs

Graduate diplomas, are a versions of Graduate Certificates that extend a student's knowledge in a specialist area of interest. For Graduate diploma generally postgraduate qualification is required, although some graduate diplomas involve the study of undergraduate level courses and Diploma is given on the basis of prior work experience. The diploma is normally achieved by following a bachelor's degree and a successful award allows progression to a master's degree without having received honors with the bachelor's degree.

Now a day, graduate diplomas have become more popular as they allow graduate-level specialization studies to be completed in half the time of masters, while still being transferable into a master’s degree in the same topic.

Graduate Diploma programs have two main purposes. If the level of your previous qualification or its subject content does not permit progression directly to a master's, you can use a diploma program as a conversion or refresher course. A Graduate diploma is also a qualification in its own way, which extends the range and depth of your undergraduate studies experience.

They can help to upgrade qualifications or provide specific advanced practical skills required in specialist industries where that specialization is not covered in your degree. Sometimes these Graduate Diplomas provide a means for people to move into a different field of expertise from that in which they studied for their Bachelor degree.

Graduate diplomas range from one semester to two years of full-time study or some equivalent part-time commitment. As the name implies, Graduate diplomas are for students who have already received a Bachelor’s degree in some approved education field, however some programs allow entry to candidates without academic qualifications, but with sufficient prior relevant work experience.

Diploma students attend specially type of arranged classes and tutorials; in most cases, but not all, cases you would attend lectures from undergraduate courses or online. Most diplomas are assessed by formal written examinations; a defined specific course is behind that examination.

Most of the students prefer Graduate certificate programs because they are shorter and more specifically focused than Graduate degree programs. A Graduate degree program generally takes minimum four to maximum five years to complete. But you usually complete a graduate diploma programs within a specific time frame, generally between three years.

Because graduate Diploma programs are shorter than graduate degree programs, they tend to be less expensive and affordable. You can gain experience in graduate-level courses and also add prior work experience in it, if in future you wish to decide to pursue a graduate or master degree, you will have some prior experience with graduate school level. The main advantage of Graduate Diploma is, it will provide a quicker way to change careers than graduate degree programs.
